"The Calm After the Storm"
Winding through a cow pasture to a hilltop cross, this road in Hana, Hawaii, is the path to a safe haven. During tsumani warnings, locals and tourists are evacuated away from the seaside town center and through the field, seeking safety at the high elevation point at the cross at the top of the hill. This image was taken in July 2025, the night after a small tsunami struck Hawaii and the hilltop was filled with those seeking safety.
Gathered near the base of Mauna Kea, the highest mountain in Hawaii, thousands of goats and sheep can be seen. Stepping momentarily away from his herd, this lone ram stands as a solitary figure in the fog along the road to the summit of Mauna Kea. Photographed on the Big Island of Hawaii, 2025. (MOLLY FOX)
